Chris Ewbank founded Ewbank’s in 1990, although we can trace our roots back to 1919 through our incorporation of another local firm. Today we hold specialist Antique and Fine Art auctions at our purpose-built saleroom near Guildford in Surrey, about 25 miles from Central London.

Our quarterly Antique and specialist sales cover a broad range of objects, including Antique Furniture, Asian ceramics and works of Art, Silver, Jewellery, Watches, Clocks, Paintings, Coins and medals, Ceramics, Wine, 20th Century Design, and Contemporary Art. All auctions are published on International bidding platforms.

Ewbank’s is a family run firm that is dedicated to giving clients and buyers an efficient and friendly service and, over the years, we have maintained the highest professional standards, adhering to the principles and ethics of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Society of Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers, and the Association of Accredited Auctioneers of which we are Members.

Chris Ewbank has taken a very active part in the leadership of the profession within the UK. He has been Chairman of the Arts and Antiques group in the RICS and was also an elected Member of its International Governing Council (the highest decision making body in the Institution) from 2004-2012. Chris was Chairman of the Society of Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers from 2000-2007. He has also in recent years been on the Executive Committee of the British Art Market Federation and was one of the first to join the new City of London Company of Arts Scholars.

He is the Founder and current Chairman of the Association of Accredited Auctioneers, working to provide easy access to UK auctions for Chinese buyers.
